I'm the mother of a 12 year old not-so-small Scottish boy, a Policy Officer and recently finished a MA in Social Sciences with the Open University.

I live in a small town west of Edinburgh with my son (50% of the time) and my 2 cats.

We've been in Scotland since 2008, having lived in the English Midlands for eight years and, before that, various places in England, Denmark and New Zealand, where I grew up.

I have fibromyalgia and joint hypermobility syndrome. I use a manual wheelchair or, for short distances, one or two crutches.

My major mobility problems are the result of hypermobile joints in my spine, hips and legs. My right hand and wrist are also affected and my right sacro-illiac joint is particularly hypermobile.

I work full time, parent part time and sometimes have a social life. This means I am not always the most reliable blogger ever.
